Last we checked, 106 7th Avenue was just a boarded up storefront with a DOB permit that said “Bagel Cafe,” but we got an update that the place is all grown up. The owner who owns three other bagels places in Queens was hoping to open two months ago and is now just waiting on final approvals. He hopes to have sit-down eating until 9pm. On offer will be Hale and Hearty Soups, a salad bar, and a wider breakfast menu than the typical bagel place. Excited?

  1. I’ll be going here for sure, Gem! I cook a lot, but lately I’ve just been wishing there was a place nearby where I could pick up a salad or something that isn’t that by-the-pound-stuff at Union Market.

  2. Ah ok -ohhhh – see I thought that Park Slope Eatery was trying to do Chopt style salads(which I think PS needs!!!!)
ok well than maybe this bagel place will do well if they do soups from Hale & Hearty plus fresh salads!

  3. You mean the Park Slope Eatery on 7th Avenue between 5th/6th Streets?

This is on 7th/Union Street, over 10 blocks away from there. We have absolutely nothing like this in the North Slope on 7th Avenue…

And no, the Park Slope Eatery is nothing like Chop’t. It’s like a diner, basically.

  4. I think the salad bar and soups are going to be even more of a draw than the bagels. Although the only bagel place anywhere near here is the La Bagel Delight a block away but their bagels aren’t great at all.

I’ve seen the inside of this place and it’s very nice with exposed brick, nice lighting…I think it’s exactly what this area could use….I ALWAYS hear people say they want a salad bar around here. I’ll be hitting that up for sure!
