Last we checked, 106 7th Avenue was just a boarded up storefront with a DOB permit that said “Bagel Cafe,” but we got an update that the place is all grown up. The owner who owns three other bagels places in Queens was hoping to open two months ago and is now just waiting on final approvals. He hopes to have sit-down eating until 9pm. On offer will be Hale and Hearty Soups, a salad bar, and a wider breakfast menu than the typical bagel place. Excited?

  1. If you don’t get the craziness and love of La Bagel Delight (a/k/a Crazy Bagels) don’t go there. It took me a while, but the total disorganization of it is great and those guys simply exude love! They tried staying open til 8 a while ago but wasn’t worth it.

  2. OMG! yes I don’t go into La Bagel Delight because of that reason
I don’t want to get lost in the shuffle on people ordering

that’s why I like Terrace bagels – one line is strictly for ordering and then you go and wait at the end of the line next to you and wait for your order to be called. Also the guys will ALWAYS write down your order on a piece of paper and hand it to the cook so you know he won’t get your order messed up!

  3. I agree that a focus on [relatively] healthy stuff like soups and salads will make it a hit, so long as they do these simple things well…
La Bagel Delight just down 7th does have some friendly folks working there, but the chaos of their ordering/paying system drives me nuts…
Why is having separate ‘order here’/’pay here’ stations anathema to so many NYC delis?? I’m not talking quaint, Katz’s-style tradition, but rather poor uses of space that result in screaming guys behind the counter & confused/irritated patrons. Like me!

  4. 11217,

Yes I have, it was very good. It’s never crowded like the early afternoons are. Looking for a lot of variety because you can get A LOT of stuff done by getting up early on the weekends.
