Sweet! As noted on Chowhound a couple months ago, Fifth Avenue’s Chocolate Room, which was voted the city’s top desert café in the 2008 Zagat Survey, is about to open a second outpost on Court Street. Chocolate Room’s owners expect the new store, which will be between Butler and Douglass (near the movie theater), to open by mid-January. With Sweet Melissa Patisserie just across the street, this is becoming dangerous territory for calorie counters. It also could be bad news for the concession stand at Cobble Hill Cinemas, no? GMAP
Maybe you’re the one stretching it thin by thinking of this as a “news” blog, 3:36. It’s not as if Brownstoner wrote “Extra, Extra, read all about it! as the headline.” And “StreetLevel” posts are always about storefronts opening and closing. Maybe you should read the Times or Fox News or something.
Cant wait we need more deserts
I’m with 3:08. Stoner, you are really stretching it thin to produce news.
As for the chocolate room, its an interesting concept. Visited the place onec, but it was too much. Too much chocolate and nothing to balance it. The wife, who is a chocolate freak, said, it was pricey and I feel like I just OD’d on chocolate.
Perhaps they’ve balanced the menu since then. Or we’re just not their customer. Whatevs, seems like they’re doing well. Kudos to them.
I don’t think so.
An inability to care about chocolate is an inability to love.
Yum! Yay!
me, apparently. and a few other people.
Two words: who. cares.
brownies, hmmmm.
