Dear-Customers.jpg
The nail salon on Lincoln Road in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, where manis and pedis could be had for a mere $15 (the trick is to ask for three coats), closed down two weeks ago. A note was attached to the door announcing the closure “because of a change in lease” and thanking customers for years of support. The buzz at neighborhood wi-fi cafe K-Dog & Dunebuggy is that a restaurant might go in its place. There’s been a number of changes at this strip of stores. K-dogs just started serving alcohol and extended its evening hours. Papa & Sons started serving smoothies and fresh made food, and now stays open 24 hours. And then of course there’s that huge glass tower going up next door, which we reported could serve as expansion space for the Maple Street School if built as planned. Tons of nail salons are nearby on Flatbush Avenue, but without an appointment they all have 40 minute waits on a weekend. But no use crying over spilled rubbing alcohol. What would you like to see move in?

  1. There is a wine store/wine bar slated for Flatbush near Lincoln. She’s waiting for the liquor license apparently. It’s been a really long wait. But that’s the word we keep getting, that it’s still planned to open.

We need a new restaurant more than a liquor store, but if it’s a liquor store I really hope it carries good wine and a wide array of specialty liquor. If it’s just a regular old liquor store we got one of those already one block away from this.

  2. A wine store would be awesome — and now that Papa’s is open 24 hours and has actually good produce (red leaf lettuce, baby zucchini, etc.), and lots of other goodies (real Mexican crema, for example — try your Mexican food with that instead of sour cream and you’ll understand why people from the West Coast laugh at our Mexican restos — sorry, Enduro, I love your margaritas (too well), but your food ain’t great), I can get everything I need on the way home from the office.

    1) The Bubby reference was a joke; not to be taken literally. Sorry for having to spell that out for you, and

    2) I find your grammar creepy. I believe you meant “accept” rather than “except”. Sorry I had to (literally) spell that out to you too.

  4. 5:37,

While the “Real Flatbush”blog occasionally mentions PLG [which, after all, is a part of Flatbush, like Ditmas Park,Prospect park So., etc.], that blog is basically about the area to our south.
