A new 5th Avenue business appears to be targeting Slopers who want home-cooked meals but don’t have time to do their own hunting and gathering. Signage has gone up on an under-construction space near 5th Street for Get Fresh, a business that’ll offer delicious, healthy dishes, shopped for, prepped and ready-to-cook in your own home, according to its website. All the meals are going to use local and organic ingredients, and they’ll run as cheap as $5 a serving. Think you’ll give ’em a whirl? GMAP

  1. i wish something like this would open up right across from ozzies’ on 7th ave where that old shoe store is for rent.

i kinda think there is more demand for it up here than it is down on mid 5th, but either way this place sounds great.

i will check it out for sure.

  2. Love that the ingredients are organic/local, and I like the idea of seeing the prepped food and cooking it myself, so I know exactly what’s in there. As a working mom, making a home-cooked meal that I don’t actually have to plan or shop for sounds pretty great. I can definitely see doing this a couple of nights a week–I hate wasting money on take out my kids don’t end up eating.

  3. Would definitely use if the quality is good and the price is right. I used to buy frequently from Dizzy’s Kitchen when it had a storefront on Seventh Avenue (in what is now the Mango Thai restaurant in the North Slope). I think there’s actually a big demand for this type of place in Park Slope.

  4. sounds interesting. like the local, organic part. tough to get take out that is actually good for you. would love to use our kitchen more, so if it’s an easy process I can see us using pretty frequently.
