green-baltic-0110.jpgIt ain’t easy being green. When we last heard from the Green Giant of Baltic Street back in September, the newly constructed commercial space was still sitting empty. Yesterday Lost City checked in with the wallflower and, sure enough, it’s still available. The blog takes issue with some of the marketing verbiage though. Rather than calling it “the most architecturally alluring storefront in Cobble Hill,” as the listing from Vespa Reality does, the blog suggests a rewrite: “I’ll give them this: It’s the most architecturally singular storefront in the neighborhood.” The blog also offers up a couple of more reasons why the space hasn’t found a taker yet: “It must be a bitch to heat in the winter and probably becomes a sauna in the summer. Not to mention the window-washing bills.”

  1. a cafe with a lot of seating would be cool there. tea lounge is gone, starbucks is small, and cafe pedlar has no seating (and additionally their coffee is just step above rat poison).

  2. Well, I’m a quasi-atheist, so Rob’s comment didn’t offend me (and I realized what he meant.) However, not liking Europe may be border-line offensive. What about it do you hate, Rob?

  3. Agree with above about windows and heating/cooling. It’s South facing, it will be “an oven” in the summer without major cooling. I’ve been trying to think of something that would be perfect for this space for weeks.

I kind of like a cafe/gallery/bar idea for this space, especially at night. Maybe it could have an 1/2 floor upper level, too?

  4. or some reason every time i walked by this place when it was under construction, i was convinced it was going to be a woodfire oven pizza place. no idea why. i do wish something would happen with it, as i think its rather pretty…
