We’ve been tracking the renovation of the former Bueno space with interest, all the while assuming it would remain a restaurant space. If the Brooklyn Paper’s reporting is correct, though, that’s not the case: Sources tell the Rupert Murdoch-owned weekly that the cursed location is in fact slated to be a stationery store. If you’re skeptical, you’re not alone. “Seriously, a stationary [sic] store? There’s no way, said Marc Elliot, chef of nearby restaurant Ceol. You’ve got Rite Aid and Duane Reade nearby, and both of them will sell the same products cheaper. Update: According to a commenter, “I believe it’s going to be a Paper Source – it’s a semi-national chain, nearest stores now in DC and Boston.”

There is a stationary/paper store on Atlantic (Zoe) a block away and another on Court. Odd, very odd.
Are you kidding? I don’t buy cards at Rite Aid and there is only one card shop in the city that stocks what I need (they have two outposts, both in Manhattan.) It is easier to buy cards in the burbs than in NYC. New York could use a ton more high-end card stores. It recently took several weeks and multiple trips to send a card to a sick relative, and the card I finally sent was not ideal.
If it’s going to be a “stationery store” I’d actually prefer it were some kind of chain than an overly “curated” boutique. But it would be better if it sold real office supplies (which would be handy in this location) than frou frou notepaper…
it’s going to be a bar. I talked to the people working on it yesterday.

why are people always hating on nail salons? obviously if there wasnt a demand for them there wouldnt be so many of them. give me a good old fashion nail salon anyday over a ridiculous overpriced coffee shop. do you realize there’s like 4053592395835329 new coffee shops in brooklyn these days? go hate on them and leave Ling Ling and Prequesha alone.
