Spirited, a “dessert speakeasy,” according to its website, plans to open at 638 Bergen Street in Prospect Heights around August 20. It is waiting on its liquor license, owner Kimberly Wetherell told us when we passed by recently.

There will be a full bar with crafted cocktails and every dessert will contain alcohol. Menu items include churros made with Brooklyn Brewery seasonal ales, dusted with bourbon sugar and dipped in chocolate ganache with ginger liqueur. A meringue cake will have bitters, champagne whipped cream and “boozy sauces” whose flavors change daily. Pears in the pear pie will be poached in port, “Manhattan” cookies will have oatmeal, cherries, and rye liquor, and there will be cocktail-flavored lollipops.

Inside there will be low lighting, banquettes, sconces, and a glittery hanging proclaiming the name of the establishment made out of bottle caps. The space was previously home to Beast. GMAP
