Could it be true? Is Shake Shack really coming to the Thomas Beisl space across from BAM? We have no idea, but that’s the implication of a hint-dropping post on a blog called At the Sign of the Pink Pig. Here’s how they put it:

Let’s say a moderately well-known restaurant was known to be closing its doors after half a dozen or so years. And let’s say it had a nice terrace for outdoor dining alongside. And it was very near an entertainment center. A good place for a Shake Shack?

As Grub Street said when the New York Mag food blog reblogged the rumor yesterday, “this reads more like wishful thinking than genuine intel — but, hey, something to think about.” After all, Shake Shake’s owner Danny Meyer has been eyeing locations in Downtown Brooklyn and Fort Greene for the last couple of years. And as Eater reported last week, the Beisl space recently hit the market. Here’s the listing.

  1. This makes me very very very sad. Beisl is one of the best restaurants in the neighborhood and certainly one of the more upscale ones. So perfect for dinner/drinks before or after a night at BAM. And the AMAZING food made it a destination spot.
Shake Shack is so not what I want to see in my neighborhood, and certainly not in that location! Grr…

  2. Yes, 67 Burger is there, but a Shake Shack wouldn’t hurt their business. Sometimes you want one kind of burger, and other times you want another. Is there really such a problem as having too many burger options? I don’t think so.

  3. Comparing 67 burger to shake shack in an absolute waste of time. This would be absolutely fantastic news if true, and I really hope that it is…My only concern is my pant size.

My dream was to open a shake shack in ft. greene park, but this will do.

  4. My dream is Danny Meyer makes one of the eternally empty spaces in north Brooklyn Heights work for the next Shack. Never mind that all those spaces are too small or that living near the Shack would make me too large.

I also want a flying car, a Mets World Series win, and my hair back. Don’t mind me.

  5. I used to go to Biesel after BAM or to meet a friend nearby for a beer or a glass of wine. Agree that food was ok, but service a not so great. I will miss it through — it was part of going to BAM for me…

  6. I’m sorry, I occasionally eat at Burger 67 but its not all that. The burgers are good but not great, the fries are just OK, and its not cheap. A burger and fries will set you back something like $13. The Shake Shack would be most welcome.
