With summer fading, The Times focuses on apartment buildings in the city where residents like to party together. The poster child for the trend: 475 Sterling Place, the 45-unit newish condo building “with a pronounced social vibe” in Prospect Heights. Also on the list: The Novo in Park Slope. Any other buildings in Brooklyn where people are still holding on to dorm life? And how about some real dirt: Intra-building hook-ups, anyone?

  1. our condo building is a big love fest and same with parents from kids school. we spent last thanksgiving and christmas with neighbors that are also parents at the school too. there are always tons of kids running around in front of the building, and the parents all hang out and socialize. lots of barbecues and parties too.

major contributing factor to general contentedness with WB is that all the people i meet are great, and we all get along.

  2. It’s kind of a sad commentary on urban (and maybe contemporary American) life that socializing with one’s neighbors is considered oddball behavior. Community used to be more than an empty piece of jargon.

It shouldn’t be surprising that this happens in apartment buildings, since many of the residents are going to have similar interests or backgrounds due to self-selection and income level.

  3. i am pretty sure that switcheroo has happened to someone in my building. the baby doesnt look like it used to look!!
oh well i guess if the baby is young enough it doesnt really matter much

  4. rob…that would make a great TV show…..two adopted Asian babies at a play date…switch their clothes and see how long it takes the mothers to realize they have the wrong ones!!!!

  5. i dont get the melrose place comment at all. melrose place is all about cheating, backstabbing, and murder. something tells me that only exciting thing that probably happens in these brooklyn condo buildings is someone accidently tinkling in their yoga fart pants.

that or they accidently take home the wrong adopted baby from a playdate. woopsies!
