similar situation in my building, mostly amongst the people who are new to NYC and looking for friends. I prefer not socializing with people in my building.

our condo building is a big love fest and same with parents from kids school. we spent last thanksgiving and christmas with neighbors that are also parents at the school too. there are always tons of kids running around in front of the building, and the parents all hang out and socialize. lots of barbecues and parties too.

Gee, I can’t understand how the folks in the Novo can be making merry together, knowing the scorn that was heaped on their building by the frownstoners. How can they live with themselves, living in such a building?
