Barrio, the restaurant on 7th Avenue and 3rd Street in Park Slope, is being relaunched as Barrio Plates this coming Monday. The restaurant will server “a tasting-style menu, featuring multi-flavored, multi-ethnic dishes,” according to an email from owner Spencer Rothschild. A new chef who’s worked at places like Gramercy Tavern and Al Di La is on board, and here’s the word on the food: “The Barrio Plates menu includes almond stuffed dates wrapped in bacon with blue cheese dipping sauce ($9), squash soup with fried sage, shaved parmesan & nutmeg ($7), crispy calamari with Dominican honey glaze, cashews & sprout salad ($9), forest mushroom and leek gnocchi tossed in brown butter ($12), bacon wrapped snapper with frisee salad ($15), and ultimate sliders of flank, brisket, short ribs smothered in smoked bacon marmalade ($13). Desserts include a honey, apricot and cream torta ($7) and chocolate flan with white chocolate crème and coca nibs ($7).” Barrio opened nearly three years ago, and Rothschild says the space has been renovated.
