  1. “In fact, no one other than white people who live in New York and California actually believe in therapy, which is why that’s where 100% of the therapists in the world have their offices.”

So very true. No one outside NY (and by that I mean NYC) and CA would even thibnk of going to a therapist.

  2. The King’s Speech was excellent, but easy to stereotype as the ultimate white person movie for the following reasons (by “white people” I of course mean white adults with liberal arts degrees who live in the Northeastern United States and all basically think alike; see the Stuff White People Like website if you want to know more):

    1. Has American actors doing British accents (which all white people wish they could do).

    2. Takes place in England (Anglophilia: check).

    3. Historically accurate, so you can learn something while watching the movie.

    4. It’s a story about a head of state, in wartime, who comes across as super sensitive. A ton of the movie is about his feelings and whatnot. They never show any scenes where the king says stuff like “b-b-b-bomb those fucking k-k-k-krauts!!” (which let’s face it, he probably said a bunch of times). They never show him being a racist ass, or kicking a hooker out of bed, or ignoring his kids, or any of the other stuff he probably did. No, they show him getting his feelings hurt when daddy yells at him. And as we all know, white people honestly believe that the only reason countries ever go to war is that the people in charge aren’t sensitive enough to other people’s feelings. In fact, I could see that smug little knowing smile on people’s faces as they left the movie theater, as if everything they had ever said about what’s wrong with George W. Bush had just been vindicated by a Weinstein Brothers movie.

    5. But more than anything else, the single whitest thing about the movie is that is a story about A GUY AND HIS THERAPIST. And we all know therapy is basically the whitest thing that exists. In fact, no one other than white people who live in New York and California actually believe in therapy, which is why that’s where 100% of the therapists in the world have their offices.

  3. jessi, don’t go to 12th Air very often. Not sure why really. it’s a decent place and close to my house.

They do have “Jaded Lounge” Asian night on the second Friday of every month though!!! it’s a huge place…3 storeys plus a nice deck.

  4. Had a great time yesterday. No hangover today, lucky.

I had an argument with some douchebag in Dirty frank’s who comes there once a year from New Jersey. He tried to pul some superior act by saying he lived in some nice section of NJ. Then I asked him what his real estate taxes were and told him that was more than all 4 of my homes!!!!LOL

And after 10 or 12 years of going to Dirty franks I finally met the owner. Nice old guy. he probably made $50,000 on New years day.

  5. OH and it was not at all gay. Nor are you cobble. Don’t know why I would think a movie you like is gay. You would actually be more fun if you were a little gayer. Most super English things are really gay, but this movie was not.

  6. King’s Speech is excellent, lech. BH and I saw it last weekend—both agreed it was very moving, and excellent acting — Rush and Firth are fantastic. Now that you know I loved it, that should immediately tell you “it’s too gay” for you.

denton, I’ve become convinced over the past 6 days that they’ve lost their collective mind over there at Sanitation. I dearly love the last one: – Call 311 with any snow or ice conditions. Call who? The City? You mean the Dept. of Sanitation!?! HA HA HA! Yeah, they’ll be right over to help!!! The way Sanitation’s been “helping people all effing week”! BAH HA HA HA! Someone over there has a sense of humor!
