  1. “Cobble that’s great! You scored a free meal? What did you have?”

We did! We scored a fabulous free meal! So unexpected and fun!

BH had steamed mussels for his appetizer, and breast of chicken stuffed with pumpkin seeds and mint pesto, with mashed butternut squash. [“Very tasty” says he!]. I had grilled shrimp with corn salad appetizer, and crispy skin salmon with braised kale and quinoa cous cous and a juniper berry sauce! All very good! I had an excellent Sauvignon Blanc with mine.

We’ll be going back for sure!

[17 sets?! Wow, I’m not sure I’ve ever met anyone with that many sets of sheets!]

  2. We don’t get charged the 5 cent deposit here in NJ.

There’s no recycling in NJ???? No wonder it still gets a bad rap as NYC’s garbage dump.

Are the politicians really that stupid that they don’t see this as an additional “green” way to raise taxes???

  3. wait a second. if i started bringing my own bottles and cans for the 5 cent deposit i could probably get back hundreds of dollars a month! wtf am i putting them in the recycling bin in my building!?!? ugh. where is the nearest place to get money for bottles anyway in park slope?

    *rob*

  4. quote:

Has anyone noticed there’s alot more people out collecting bottles and cans that you normally wouldn’t see doing it?

yeah i just read about that. it’s no longer little old frail chinese ladies but kids in bushwick and williamsburg who’ve blown thru their trust funds on coke 🙁 *weeps*. not!

    *rob*

  5. DH, there is a guy who shows up on recycling night in my hood and walks away with my bottles and cans. He’s nice about it too. Instead of just tossing the things he can’t get money for on the sidewalk, he brings small grocery bags and separates it and takes what he wants. When I remember, I sort them for him.
