  1. OMG! I used to love Solid Gold when I was little. Then the dancers started wearing fewer clothes and gyrating on the floor. My ultra religious mother then decided that was the end of that! The last episode I saw was when Ready For The World performed “Oh Sheila!” ….my mother saw the dancers humping the floor and heard the ‘unh unh unh, Oh Sheila!’ part of the song and Solid Gold ceased to be welcome on our tv!

  2. quote:

WHICH IS WHY THE BODEGAS ARE THE BIGGEST RIPOFF TO LOW INCOME NEIGHBORHOODS THAT DON’T HAVE SUPERMARKET ALTERNATIVES.

    WRONG.

beer at bodegas is significantly cheaper than supermarkets. i dont care WHAT you say. maybe your hoity toity brands of beer are not cheaper, but good cheap malt liquor is ALWAYS cheaper in bodegas. im so sick of that tired remark about bodegas being overpriced. fauxdegas are however absurdly overpriced cuz they pretend to be “organic”, but real bodegas for the most part do not overcharge, except for those dusty boxes of massengil from 80s that lind the shelves.

  3. “yesterday we had to look at a pic of Snappy’s bra.”

What’s wrong with that? I like looking at bras.

“There was an older couple out this morning on Lorimer St with 4 shopping carts full of cans.”

A few Crown Heights churches operate food pantries, and I’ve noticed the lines are growing longer. I’ve seen all sorts of people collecting cans. They’re fitting reminders that while we argue about real estate, there are some people out there confronting life and death situations.

  4. Rob- the price of the deposit is incorporated into the price.

Whatever, it’s 5 cents I know, but it’s just one of those irksome things to me because it’s no longer necessary. Yet, who’s going to waste the time and energy arguing with the bureaucrats in NY government to remove the deposit law? I suspect it’ll never go away.

  5. haha Dave – I’m gonna start an alternative investment fund that just consists of people buying me beer and I drink it and trade in the cans – then I give them their return. Brilliant!

  6. ” Changing sheets every three days equals the use of about 10 sets per month”

Holy Cow! You change your sheets every THREE days?

Apparently, I’m not only a heathen, I’m a sloth too!

  7. “Did BH go to Ellis and try the burger? What did he think of GH?”

BH saw Ellis, but did not stop in – said it looked great – wants to try it. He also saw what he described as a ‘cool & groovy’ coffee house near 16th[?]. He walked all up and down and zigged and zagged throughout. His review was mixed and pretty biased based on he’s happy here. He says he wants to go back another day – read: ‘sunnier’ day. Liked parts, not all. He thinks there is a lot of walking to get to things. I reminded him that we are spoiled by the convenience of everything over here. I think it bears another viewing – read: I haven’t had my say yet! [He also immediately sat down and started reviewing our finances and said he thinks we can stay here.]
