THANKS VINCA!!!!
Great link, with lots of info. Going through it now.
There are 10 bridges that are landmarked (I didn’t know that).
The oldest bridge in NYC still standing is Highbridge built in 1843.
I believe it’s at 160th street and East Side. It’s a steel arch bridge. Really beautiful. I’m not sure it’s open to pedestrians.
I’m going to try to decipher which bridges are walkable that I haven’t been on.
m4l…we went to this place a second time. its got to be one of the best italian places in philly…after Vetri and Osteria. Philadelphia magazine has their top 50 list out this issue if you can find it
i never had a racial term thrown at me when i lived in harlem. (well other than “get the white boy” when i jumped into the open hydrant with the kids.. but that was kinda funny and everyone knew it). i have however been looked at in park slope as if im a piece of trash for walking around with a pitbull smoking newports. take that for what it’s worth 😉
haha – i was on eastern parkway around bedford ave. it was late. and i realize crap like that happens and don’t make gross overgeneralizations ( i lived on eastern parkway and nostrand ave for 1.5 years, and loved it)
Why the f*ck can’t South Slope bartenders make a dark rum and coke? I used to eat a lot at the restaurant on 20th Street and 6th Ave before it went to hell. Twice they made it from diet coke, once from Captain Morgans.
Last week I was at Eurotrip, I don’t know what they put in it.The waitress went behind the bar and made the prelacement herself.
Ice. Dark Rum. Coke or Pepsi. Is that so hard? Damn!!!
ok, M4L- I’ve lived in Crown heights since 2003 and have found everyone to be nice and never had a nasty comment thrown my way. On the other hand, when I lived an Bklyn Hgts and was still married (interracial marriage), I heard several.
DH is a hipster. He was “ASKING” for it. Kidding aside, were you in Crown Heights SOUTH or NORTH (ie south or north of E. Parkway)? I’m praying it’s South so I can keep in my head that North is free of that stuff – please, please, no one go bursting my bubble with reality.

Sadly, DH- there are racists of all creeds and colors.
quote:
I’ve been called racial slurs by people while in Crown Heights and Bed Stuy a couple of times, does that make the old timers there racist?
yes.
