  1. bonus room is the newfangled way of saying “den”.

A mud room is a room behind or adjacent to the kitchen it usually is a pass through between the kitchen and the backyard. Sometimes it’s combined with a laundry room. Essentially it’s a place to take off your muddy shoes before going into the house.

  2. Off to Home Depot…pray for me that I don’t drown in or get splashed by the semis driving through the large puddle/mini lake that is inevitably waiting for me on 3rd Ave!

    xxxx
    fingers crossed

  3. Lesson learned a long time ago- fix it yourself, don’t wait on landlords. And when you live alone, it pays to be able to take care of stuff. I’m trying to convince the great EVLL to let me scrape the facade to get off the old paint but she won’t let me on the ladder 🙁

  4. A mud room is place to take off wet shoes, coats, etc so you dont junk up the rest of the house. A bonus room is realtor speak for a room that has no real purpose until you give it one.

  5. Benson,

The leak is definitely coming right from were the pipe connects to the tub drain. You’re right though, it is a lead pipe. We already replaced the section from the sink to the main. That required taking out a section of the guest room closet floor and wall. The tub will require taking out a section of the floor in my master bed closet.

Thing is though, when you’re planning on a full remodel of the bathroom you’d rather not have to do these things piecemeal. I’d rather do it when we have the bathroom floor ripped out. It’d be SO much easier.

I”m leaving the decision to the man though.

  6. That’s what we said Snappy! For a mud room?

It didn’t much matter to us though b/c the waste pipes and plumbing are all set up behind the wall and under the floor so putting in a new loo was not going to be a big deal.

We were just putting it off b/c with just two of us here it wasn’t a huge priority (until now). We had other things on our priority list to tackle first.
