the chicken, I wish everyone felt that way. We are in need of more bicycle lanes and should be promoting cycling like they do in Denmark and other bicycle-friendly cities.

DH, cycling is also, by far, my fastest way to work. 15 minutes door to door. It beats walking by 25 minutes, the subway by 10 minutes and car (which varies widely depending on traffic).
actually I think Brooklyn Heights is the highest point in the downtown area. We are like the French Quarter and you guys in the lowlands are like, Chantilly or whatever.
CG Ups, not really. If the weather is manageable in the morning, I ride. I have the luxury of being able to take my bike up to my office and store it there, so if the weather is bad after work, I just keep it in my office and ride it home the next day.
Last year hubby and I considered getting a scooter. We looked at the Vespa. We would have had to get the bigger model so we can take it onto the highway. It was too big for me to handle. In the stopped position, my feet didn’t reach the floor. I wouldn’t be able to ride it alone.
chicken…I suspect there is much greater danger of you being hit, perhaps purposefully, in the traffic lanes. This is not a city, nor a country that is “scooter friendly.”
