  1. “So funny that the newest post on Brownstoner is about a new bike shop!”
    I noticed that too. Coincidental.

“Got a tuneup at Gotham Bikes and it was $100. GACK!”
CG, I need to bring my kid’s bike in (we’re closest to the bike shop on Atlantic, near the HOD). I’m wondering if it is cheaper to just buy a new bicycle than get a tuneup in this city!

  2. Rob, if you want a bike route, found this awesome website

    http://www.ridethecity.com

It gives you options for shortest distance, safest route, etc. My guess would be for the slope up to Manhattan Bridge to SoHo.

So funny that the newest post on Brownstoner is about a new bike shop! Was actually going to ask people for recommendations. Got a tuneup at Gotham Bikes and it was $100. GACK!

  3. “i do not want nyc to turn into a cheesy european city!!!! stop trying to make that happen people!

Which European City is cheesy Rob? (apart from the ones that make cheese)

  4. You’re right wasder, I was pretty rebellious when I was younger, but now I’m a BIG CHICKEN!

Yes, I built it. You can email me at cobblehiller1@gmail and I’ll send you the link – it has notes on how I did it. It’s pretty basic. I’m not a hard-core coder, I use Dreamweaver. Let’s talk, I’ll be honest about what I can and cannot handle. I also know A LOT of people that do this stuff if it’s not something I do.

  5. Let’s have a GOTD (Guest of the Day). Our task is to lure an unsuspecting newbie into the Open Thread (or wait for one to be brave enough to enter) and then have an over-the-top warm reception for him / her. Wow, we have so much fun…

  6. Chicken, I’m 5′-3″.
We were looking at the Vespa that can be taken on the highway, as we do alot of driving.
FYI – most scooters are not allowed on highways.

I forget the model number. It’s bigger, heavier and wider than the average scooter you see zipping around the streets. I was barely touching the floor with my tippy toes even leaning forward. I’m a weakling I don’t think I can hold up the bike, I was scared I was going to tip over.

This was a year ago and unless they made that particular model smaller and managable for petite women I have to pass.

  7. Thanks What, thanks wasder!

It’s not illegal What! If you met me, you’d see — I’m waaaay to big a chicken to do anything more illegal than absent-mindedly littering!

And I’m not sure ‘orange jumpsuits’ are really ‘me’! ; )
