Hi folks;
Isn’t the following scenario a piece of work?
-On a Friday, a publisher puts out a post saying he wants to expand the number of commenters, and clearly indicates that the impediment to doing so is the regular posters. They “beat down” newcomers (though an example can’t be cited), they are called “spirited” in a perjorative manner and they clog the airwaves with their non-quality posts. In this Friday post, the publisher never hints that he has new features coming out THE FOLLOWING WEEK.
-after the regular posters protest, the publisher issues a non-apology apology (“If” you were offended, I’m sorry), and suddenly uses the ocassion to announce new features.
-the following week, at least three new features suddenly appear (MM posts, “price-o-meter” and showing various price levels in the last week’s sales post). We also learn that the number of page views is at an all-time high, which would seem to indicate (at least to my way of thinking) that the number of viewers and posters would be at an all-time high, even though we were informed a few days before that these new folks were intimidated by the regulars.
-Finally, the publisher todays runs the one thread that some of the regulars had pointedly suggested he eliminate in order to raise the quality of the site.
Weird. Just plain weird. Can anyone figure this out? As far as I can see, it can be summed up in the form of a raised middle finger to at least some of the regular posters. Am I wrong on this?
You know, I am exhausted today, as I just finished a two week cross-country trip that involved about 6 customers and a trade show. I make my living dealing face-to-face with customers, and in my wildest dreams I would never treat even my biggest jerk customers this way.
Thanks DeLepp, that’s great. I’m being treated (your hard earned TARP and TALF money at work – KIDDING), so I’m not so worried about price, but I definitely don’t want anything stuffy or quiet. Something a bit more loose and loud, like certain posters around here whose names shall go unmentioned.
oops- sorry dibs. Am not going back to that thread- yet another poster has just ranted an anti-OP post. Bet that guy will never post a question on the forum again.
Biff, Cafeteria is good as long as neither you or your dining companions like well done meats. They can’t seem to grasp that concept over there. Also, get there as early as you can. It gets ridiculously packed and you can wind up waiting forever for a table.

And why do the Brits insist on putting lots of sugar and cream in hot tea??? That’s just an abomination if you ask me.
Speaking of the Brits…how ’bout Michelle touching the Queen’s shoulder??? Now that’s apparently something to talk about!!!!
S’ok, snappy- I’m in the elevator going down with snark and our skins. And my tiara.

I know, bxgirl. My statement was aimed at everyone of us, not you in particular. Those threads do seem to get hairy quite often 🙂
Snappy, I was thinking of Cafeteria. I thought I heard it went downhill recently, but still think it might be a good choice. Thanks!
Bif,
Il Barstado on 21 and 7th for Italian
Gasgone 19th and 8th for French
Sueno 18 between 8th and 9th for Mexican.
Both are mid priced.
