  1. there’ weren’t many restrictions back in my day. While I wasn’t a chimney sweep I’d had my fair share of crummy ass dirty jobs by the age of 15. Nevertheless, they provided me with the comic and candy money I wanted.

  2. “anyway, essays are kinda stupid and nothing but an exercise in tooting your own horn. id rather it be a question like, what was most deviant act growing up”

    haha
considering what happens on college campuses these days,
I think that might be a useful inquiry.

  3. lech is right, rich kids really DONT write their own college essays, they sometimes have 4 – 5 people who work on them. i believe my college essay was something along the lines of what was your favorite trip or most moving vacation or something lol. im pretty sure my essay about how absurd the question was. tho now i cant remember if that was the admissions essay or an essay for some scholarship.

  4. Hi dona, I am well & more importantly so are the parents.
I avoided both the wedding and the Obama visit, thankfully. Had a good time.
Was there in between, although I only went into London to change trains on the way to / from my godchildren in the suburbs.

  5. “The harvard admissions committee probably gets specialized training on how to recognize what’s coming from obnoxious overbearing helicopter parents and what’s actually coming from the kids. They pretty much assume that no one writes their own essays any more.”

I imagine they would also discount all of these “internships” and “community activities” that are the rage these days among helicopter parents.

I have more respect for a kid who signs up for a summer of bussing dishes.

    Hey Etson!
