  1. My daughter has already done a lot of babysitting. When she was 12, she had a 2-week job picking up 2 kids, age 3 and 6, at different day camps in Carroll Gardens, acquiring dinner for them, and entertaining them until their parents came home at 8. I was surprised that the mom trusted her with that much responsibility, but I knew she’d handle it. Her biggest problem was that she couldn’t figure out how to fold and unfold the stroller.

She spends her money on makeup and clothes mostly, plus going to Starbucks and other snack places with her friends.

  2. i worked in an office and as a dog walker in the end of 10th grade and thru HS graduation. okay, like for reals, why did i go to college again? office work and dog walking is what i do now!

  3. “they may be but still we are god’s creations and deserve love and respect.”

That sure sounds nice but it’s kind of meaningless. Kind of like saying you “support gay marriage”. Um ok, don’t tire yourself out doing that.

  4. “Some people are just lazy, dumb, uninteresting leeches.” —
they may be but still we are god’s creations and deserve love and respect.

Cheaper to hire illegals than hire some kid with parents who would have nerve to insist they be paid minimum wage.

  5. I was allowed to work once I got my working papers at 13, but there were limits. I couldn’t work retail until I was 15 or 16? I worked as a nanny summers – 6 days a week/1 day off, and some evenings off. Then I worked at a retail place a few afternoons a week. I also did a lot of babysitting and housesitting. I also worked through college.

  6. Rob’s totally right. Some people are just fuckups, plain and simple. People aren’t all equal you know. You don’t have to find that little golden ray of sunshine in each individual. Some people are just lazy, dumb, uninteresting leeches.
