I think that’s too broad a statement, benson. It really has nothing to do with wanting more government in our lives, its a matter of how we think government should work for everyone. liberals tends to see the country as a whole forest. I think conservatives see it as a bunch of trees.
The other thing is that I don’t know that you can say conservatives do want less government. They seem to want that when it comes to money but not when it comes to social issues. Why deny gays the ability to marry? Why pass laws restricting the rights of women to the point of mandating (in Some states) vaginal ultrasounds.Those are intrusive, painful and amount to state mandated rape.
I think that each has a vision concerning the size and influence of the government in the US. Given that liberals tend to want a larger role for the government, their proposed policies tend to reflect their vision for the country as a whole.
kens, a sure sign you are spending too much time here.
Scott, you are absolutely right but at this point, it’s my only scapegoat (no pun intended) to sanity. Otherwise, I’ll have to do some real work and that’s just plain crazy talk.
I kind of want to delete my 11:35. It comes across as waaaaay overly simplistic. It’s one thing to make a punchy point by keeping it simple but sometimes simplicity just comes across as dumbly naive.
Nobody knows a good glazier? Y’all are boring me.

Do either liberals or conservatives have a clear vision of America?
Sure, there are certain very broad generalizations each group can agree with, but there seems to be dissent within each group on many big issues.
The biggest is probably the whole social spectrum vs economic spectrum that the Libertarians get so caught up on, but there are many others.
DIBS;
Wouldn’t it be great to open up a stand at Smorgasburg selling Cool Whip and Fresca?

I really don’t think I’d relate well to the crowd at the Smorgasburg. “Annoying” would be the first word that comes to mind
OK this is how shit works:
Liberals and conservatives hate each other’s visions of America.
It’s just that simple.
