Psyched!! My big boss just summoned me to meet with her, and then told me to go to a 1/2 hour training session at 2pm, and then go home after that.

If I weeren’t going to Philly I’d meet you at Montero’s at 3:00

  2. Not surprising that both dibs and legion say that. And yes, dibs I did have an inkling. And I think they are full of sh*t as to the reason. We’re long used to corporations coming up with clever, inventive ways to explain themselves.

And as for tax cuts- well, seeing the situation the economy is in, it’s pretty obvious tax cuts did a lot for the wealthy, not so much for jobs. Agreed spending needs to be cut, but there are still essential programs and services that can’t be cut and without the revenue to keep things going as we do change our spending, you’re only going to cause more damage to those who aren’t wealthy. Trickle down economics- or more accurately, voodoo economics- never worked.

  3. Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, defense spending, and debt interest account for about 80 percent of the federal budget.

Defense spending appears to be sacred and untouchable.

It seems like the only plan the Republicans have put forward to deal with this spending is to pass the buck to the states for Medicare and Medicaid.

I don’t think the American people overall will go for major cuts in entitlement programs, although raising the SS retirement age should be a no-brainer.

I am very discouraged by the overall budget situation.
I think that few politicians or anyone else is really interesting in addressing it.
It is much easier to hurl general accusations at your opponents than to come up with a plan that involves real choices and changes.
