“Right now, Verizon is trying to destroy good jobs. Bloomberg’s budget lays-off thousands of workers. The rich are getting tax cuts. Working people are getting layoffs and foreclosures. And Wall Street is walking away with no real penalties after almost totally destroying the economy. It’s all part of the same picture. Join CWA on Thursday, May 12th.”
This is about as lame sounding as the wording in the petition on same-sex marriage.
whenever my internet is down and i look to see who’s wifi i can possible steal from (usually everyone has it locked) everyones network names are SOOOOO passive-aggressive, i get a chuckle out of some of them.
Union Demonstration on Wall Street TODAY. Protest organized and led by dave, lechacal, benson and Legion. Discuss:
“Join CWA to send a message to Wall Street, Bloomberg and Verizon! Today, on Thursday, May 12th, thousands of students, union members, and community groups will rally in Lower Manhattan and converge on Wall Street.
CWA members will start to assemble at 4pm on Broad Street between Pearl Street and Water Street in front of Fraunces Tavern (across from a Verizon building). We will begin marching to Wall Street at 5pm. Thousands of our brothers and sisters – possibly tens of thousands – will also be in the streets all over Manhattan.

Visa was interesting – it was more a failure of Microsoft’s marketing and partnerships with hardware manufacturers than a failure of technology.
There was a study done when Microsoft was trying to decide what to name Windows 7. They gave two groups the same exact system, telling one it was was an update to Vista and telling the other it was a new operating system they were working on. The vista group gave the systems much lower ratings than the new group.
Windows 7 is really Vista 1.1, but with a much better marketing campaign and 2+ years for the HW and SW companies to adjust.
Apple had much more disruptive transitions when they went to OSX, then again when they switched to from Power to Intel chips.
However, in both cases they handled the transitions much better, partially because they controlled so much of the hardware, but mostly because of better marketing and expectation setting.
Jester: My laptop is in transit; I mentioned this to my boss and he said, “Don’t you live near [famous restaurant]? you can use their wifi and save $50 bucks a month.”
“I never thought of that,” I said.
But jester, if you do, be sure NOT to do any banking or stuff that discloses banking, credit card info. Those sites aren’t secure and there is a growing criminal industry skimming sensitive data from quasi-public sites, parks, etc.
I really thought that Microsoft ripped off the world with its Vista operating system. Ok, it is gone now, thank God, but it was a disaster. It was supposed to protect us from viruses, but I struggled with a Dell laptop with a Vista operating system (my last computer) which gave me trouble from Day 1. All of my software was incompatible and then realized that we were basically beta testing the worst operating system ever released. In the end, the software just defeated itself, my hard drive crashed and I bought one with Windows 7, which so far is fine. I’d love a MAC but wan’t prepared to pay up for one.

OK, what’s up with all this technology talk?
I could geek on all day, but that’s what I do for a living already.
Back to the birthday topic, who had large sweet sixteen, bar/bat mitzvah, confirmation, or other coming of age parties?
I did not have any of them, and I don’t think that anyone I grew up did either.

” Just nod your head and smile and agree with everything he posts.”
I am never speaking to you again.
