if i have to move i’d probably move to the staten island. i think it would be fun to commute via ferry and the rents are a bit cheaper and it would be close to work. i hope i get to stay in park slope tho, my dog likes it and would be pretty mad at me if we had to move.
Re Queens, I heard that Jackson Heights has really nice housing stock. Parts of it are landmarked and the apartments are really nice. Also fantastic Latina Comida.
Yum.
I also think rents are pretty high in Brooklyn. Sometimes for the hell of it, I check rents in Queens or Staten Island. The housing stock isn’t as nice in most places, but there are very nice apartments for 1500 or less in Queens and in Staten Island there are really cheap nice new complexes (failed condo developments). Staten Island is transportation challenged, but Queens is great.
One of my tenants has a way below market rent. I need to raise it a little, but I kept it the same for a couple of years, then the recession hit and didn’t want to raise it
I think it’s where Union Smith Cafe used to be, DIBS? The place with the sidewalk/outdoor garden on the street side? i heard it’s good. Almost went last week, but it was grey/threatened rain and we ended up at Lobo, which is fine.

Yes, DIBS.
DIBS, Rob will run out of money at the end of each month if he rents from you and will end up stealing your garden tomatoes :o)
So Cobble, should I assume it’s at the corner of Union & Smith?????
I haven’t raise my tenants rent at all. In fact i lowered in in their second year.
I’d be chary of having a tenant who continues to sit next to homeless types on the subway, thus raising the likelihood of bed bugs in my building.
Plus another gay in the same building would be too much.
” I knew Queens a bit more and I didn’t have to diss it, it disses itself.”
Snort!
