I agree, MM. Although I understand the raucous celebrating, it wasn’t something I would party over. Indeed I spent most of the next day in contact with the 9/11 community. No one was partying- most were remembering and grieving.
Biff- I also love NOP’s posts. MM and I met him one day with Amzi and we got a lovely NOP tour of Crown Heights. In fact he used to live on our block when he was a child.
Benson, that’s fair. But even if most people’s experiences were different than NOP’s, it shouldn’t prevent one from being captivated by his stories. I’m assuming my life was much different than his (hell, we didn’t even grow up in the same country, let alone the same borough), but one thing I love about this site is that I get to hear about other people’s diverse backgrounds and lives, especially folks like NOP, Montrose, Arkady, denton, DIBS and you.
NOP never claimed it was the mainstream. He only speaks about his life. Do you think only you and your family had the “authentic Brooklyn” experience? Honestly benson, are you jealous of him too?
Biff- wouldn’t that be a helluva book? (said as I am kicking MM’s ankle again).

I disabled Ad Blocker (add-on for Firefox) and now I see it.I guess I will have to live with targeted online dating and weight loss ads on Facebook!
“LARGE….full-bodied….projectile bun…flogging me…braining me with her projectile hair.”
I sat next to a guy who quietly read the New York Times. There was plenty of room for both of us.
Biff;
Agreed. I should have said that he is an eleoquent and compelling writer (which was your point to begin with!).
“Lech, safe to assume you don’t subscribe to the axiom that one attracts more bees with honey than with vinegar?”
I subscribe to the axiom that if you don’t want a bee to sting you, kill it.
Carol – I see it in the top right directly under the “Explore Neighborhoods” bar.

Here is how to use the search function on brownstoner.
Go to Google. Type brownstoner and then your topic. This site is a mess. Bypass the whole freaking mess by using Google.
