Hey all, not much time today so just skimmed the posts, maybe more later, but about New York stories, I see earlier Charlie McCorkell is opening up a branch of Bicycle Habitat in PS.
From his website:
“He once organized a small group of twelve cyclists to get arrested on the Brooklyn Bridge to protest the redesign, which kept stairs on the bridge and eliminated bike access during the centennial reconstruction. ”
Actually if I recall it was seven here and five on the Manhattan Bridge. Koch was supposed to let a large demonstration cycle across the bridge in one traffic lane. At the last minute he changed his mind and threatened anyone who tried to cross with arrest. Since I was friends with one of the organizers, I volunteered as part of a small group to disobey and we rode onto the bridge knowing we would be arrested.
The whole thing was set up in advance by the NYPD. They had waiting paddy wagons and a bunch of rookies making their first arrest. There were older cops above, supervising. We dismounted from our bikes which were taken away, and we were handcuffed and put in the paddy wagon.
One fly in the ointment, which was a truly amazing sight. Along with us white folx, a young Black kid also volunteered. (He rode in every day to his job in a hardware store.) When the older cops saw him, it was like flies to honey, the script where the rookies were to make the arrests went right out the window. They cops jumped him, and instinctively, the kid held on to his bike. One cop grabbed hold of his front wheel and pulled one way, and another cop grabbed hold of his back wheel, and pulled the other way. Finally they got the bike away from him. Unlike the rest of us, he was thrown to the ground and then charged with resisting arrest.
Because of the seriousness of that charge, and cuz another volunteer had a prior arrest at another demonstration, we got a lawyer.
At our hearing in Brooklyn Criminal Court, where we we were specks of white in a sea of dark, the judge took a look at us, laughed, dismissed all charges, and said, ‘get these criminals out of here’.
There was a lame comedy around 10 years ago called “Coming soon.”
It was about 3 girls at a rich UES prep school who realized that none of them had ever had an orgasm. Mia Farrow played the mom of one.
I watched it one night when I was was visiting a place that had HBO and I could not sleep.

Crapola! I got a FB notice from a friend about a YouTube on Osama is Dead but it’s been taken down for being offensive. Did anyone see it?

Looks like the conservatives are firmly in control up there eh?
Liberal party is slowly disappearing.

“dude, you’re so park slope it’s ridiculous! ;)”
Yes, but at least I bought my subaru in 20th century. Not a latecomer to slope mores.
