  1. donatella,
    I hear you,
I went out and bought the NYTimes today, if you can believe it.
I’ll be placing it in the attic where I keep a copy of the
9/12/01 edition with the plane hitting the World Trade Center on the cover.

I taped the President’s statement and let my son watch it this morning.
He had a lot of questions about what it all means.
I used it as a lesson in Justice.

  2. “Or do you mean “a gory photograph that I can judge myself” rather than “independent scientific judgement”??”

haha exactly. Spot on. I’m really surprised people feel entitled to some kind of proof. What do you want, a power point presentation? A guided tour of the house? A few minutes alone with the commander of the SEAL team? It’s not like a picture proves anything.

“oh sure I know someone used highly advanced scientific equipment to provide an irrefutable DNA match, but I’m really not convinced until I see a gory picture.”

  3. And speaking as a photographer, a photograph isn’t “undeniable proof” of anything. If you want to not believe it, nothing will ever convince you. A shot-in-the-eye photo is less ‘evidence’ and more prurient voyeuristic get-your-rocks-off bs.

  4. folks, folks, they’ve already released DNA evidence that it’s Osama. Or do you mean “a gory photograph that I can judge myself” rather than “independent scientific judgement”??

  5. There was no proof that Hitler was dead until after the Soviet Union collapsed, and Russia finally opened its archives and released photographs (including one of his skull with a bullet hole through it, which they’ve kept in their archives) and dental records.

  6. By Legion on May 2, 2011 1:16 PM…completely agree with everything said.

Additionally, I don’t believe there is a conspiracy and I do believe bin Laden is dead but I also don’t think it’s completely irrational, given the history of being lied to by so many politicians, to have thought there was at least a chance bin Laden was not killed, especially when it was first announced, when it was virtually impossible to have had DNA results back. As Legion said, I think a larger presentation/definitive proof is not asking for too much.

No matter what happens, I hope this ultimately brings at least some sort of closure for everyone, particularly the friends and families of the victims of the 9/11 attacks.

  7. dibs,

    You don’t watch Celebrity Apprentice?
I tune in once in a while,
usually the last half hour is entertaining.
I think I prefer the regular edition, where
you have individuals competing for a real job.
