“As a domestic partner I don’t actually pay anything. He absorbs the cost so, in the end we basically share the costs.”
Likewise, BH had the (family plan) insurance for he and his daughter, and pays for it. Now that we’re domestic partners, I’m just along for the ride. It’s very good insurance, much better than I could afford privately and less expensive than I would have to pay on my own.

Most of my career I used HMOs but now I’m on a much better Aetna plan. I had my primary physician here stop taking insurance many years ago so I switched to another one in the same office. Yes, weird. There was no way I was going to deal wit and pay all the extra out of network charges and bullshit.
“DIBS, it’s my understanding that NYC workers get GHI (cheapo insurance) free. If they want a better plan, they pay a portion of the cost of it (plus the usual deductibles, copays, etc.).”
That is true, at least for teachers. GHI family coverage is free.
On the issues of paying taxes for insurance, single people and federally recognized families do not pay taxes on health insurance, unless it is a “Cadillac Plan,” which I think kicks in around $10K for singles or $25K for families.
Domestic Partners are not covered by this exemption, and therefore have to pay taxes on the partner’s portion of the insurance.

i tiled my first apartments kitchen with faux hardwood sticky linoleum tiles i bought at national wholesalers. not sure what i was thinking at the time. and it came out horrible in places i had to cut around the tub, stove, and fridge, and weird corners.

I stronlgy prefer longer and taller toilets – but this is a very small room so I stuck with the shorter one.
I don’t like the long basin toilets.
I realized that after i posted it Arkady. I usually confuse muntins with mullions.
