  1. benson, i restored an 1800s “painted lady” in Chicago. The front was all wood with the gingerbread and siding and all but I used aluminum siding on the sides and rear. It looked quite good actually if you get the right kind and the right size.

  2. “I’ll have to put another coat of paint on the front and rear of the house, including all the window muttons which need work as the upsatirs windows are original to the house (1800s).”

Ah the joys of vinyl siding!

  3. Lech, tiles need a day to set on the thin set before you should grout them. that said, unless you start doing a ton of this work tonight, it’s aggressive timeline to complete what you described by Sun night. I thought changing toilet was the easiest and faster item on your list – ie remove toilet, put in new ring, screw in new toilet into place, reconnect the fast connection water lines and you’re done.

  4. I’ve just got vegetable planting to do. However, pretty soon I’ll have to put another coat of paint on the front and rear of the house, including all the window muttons which need work as the upsatirs windows are original to the house (1800s).

    Planting ciopollini onions and potatoes.

  5. rf, that healthcare package isn’t “free.” A certain portion of it (about 30%) is taxed as income. That’s not the case with municipal and government healthcare packages.

I’ve been paying something for healthcare as long as I can remember and it’s been going up over the past 10 years. Virtually all corporate plans are taxed to a certain degree.

  6. “lech…what projects are on tap for the weekend???”

    Thanks for asking, Dave.

First I need to finish up the office / bathroom project. The white wood trim needs to be painted in the office and a little touch up needs to be done on the crown molding. Then I think I can finally declare the office complete.

On the bathroom, let me see: a little repair on the sheetrock in the ceiling where I installed the light / fan combo, paint the ceiling, paint the walls (other than the strip of glass tile that I put around the middle).

Then it’s time to remove the toilet, bust up the old tile on the bathroom floor, prep the floor, re-tile, grout….. that will probably take me through Sunday night…. I doubt I will have the toilet back in by Monday morning. Oh well, kids will just have to piss in another toilet next week.

Whoa! I don’t remember that. Really threatening. I think rob was an a$$hole yesterday but this goes way too far. I do understand his/her anger, especially since losing friends and family on 9/11. But this is just as bad. Mr. B really should respond and take it down.

bxgrl – I am glad you have taken on telling Mr. B to take down my comments. If Rob’s comments were approved, why shouldnt my comments be approved. It sounds like double standards to me. Just focus on finding a job instead of policing OT. Mr B. has issues with any of the comments on various topics that are posted here, I am sure he will act on his own accord.

If you guys were serious about what Rob’s comments implied, why didn’t you all contact Mr. B.
