“No, you have not. You made a sh*tty comment about someone rationalizing a staycation. A totally classless maneuver.”
Hello, I said that jokingly, in the context of a discussion on the ills of socialism vs. capitalism. A discussion in which bfarwell himself stated that he was happy not to be a capitalist.
To clarify another issue,
ENY posted about having gone to Caragena,
Jessi said she is considering going there for a vacation,as did lechacal.
I only stated that I liked the idea of retiring to a place like that.
I did post about going to swim with Whale Sharks however.
kens,
Thanks, I’m not really that offended.
I have very thick skin you know. ;o)
I remember visiting Wendy’s grandmother outside Anniston, Alabama during the 1996 election, and hearing her go on a long tirade about how should never vote for Dole or any other Republican.
She had a long list of reasons, but mostly I think she was still mad at Hoover.
Oddly, the only West Virginians I know are partners at the fancypants firm where I used to work (one of them is the chair of the firm….the lawyers here know who I’m talking about). Oh and my childhood pen pal, who know lives on Eastern Parkway.
“many people think we are closer to corporate dictatorship than we’ve ever been.”
I would guess the period from around 1885-1905 was the height of corporate power in the U.S.
The power corporations have now is nothing compared to then.

“(and 0 for infinity on whatever other scoreboard might be tracking dibs).”
Actually I believe that’s 0 out of 1 linear mile.

No P-town. 3 for 4 on the dibs RE scoreboard (and 0 for infinity on whatever other scoreboard might be tracking dibs).

“More like “Did I do that? Well, it doesn’t matter. I just made a pile of money. Let them get theirs.””
Better said.
”
There are still some old-school FDR Democrats around in redneck land, although they are getting older and dying off.”
apparently not enough.
“many people think we are closer to corporate dictatorship than we’ve ever been.”

“There are still some old-school FDR Democrats around in redneck land”
