and rob- you need to seriously stop making generalizing pronouncements about everyone and everything as if you really know something about them.

Somehow, I agree with both MM and dibs on this one. Obama has had to deal with lots of BS. But he does come off as tone deaf even when he says things I agree with. Clinton had to put up with lots of BS, too, but had a more common touch. A lot depends on unemployment, gas prices, and who the opponent is. But how successful he and the GOP are, respectively, in defining and framing the debate over 2012 budget, will be important factor as well. He does need to communicate effectively with a majority of the voting public (something I think you and I both want, MM). The last sitting prez to get reelected without a common touch was RMN; the last with a common touch not to was LBJ.
