Scott, I’m non-PBR curious. You detest puns, and you’re put off by yesterday’s political discussion. (I’m usually put off by the political debates, but actually thought yesterday’s was quite tame.) What, pray tell, would you like to discuss in the OT???
Here are some of our usual topics for your consideration:

Yes, not only are the Germans responsible for starting land wars in Europe but also for many a hangover I had at places like Zum Deutschen Eck, Chicago Brauhaus and others over the years.
Well, yes. However, in my defense, my schedule is busiest Wed-Saturday. And they served beer in giant german glasses, throwing off my ability to judge quantity. 😉
I don’t buy the analogy between the American Revolution and the Spanish Civil War, jackal. The Spanish Government that was overthrown by Franco, with the assistance of the Germans, was duly elected by the Spanish people. The Americans did not have an elected government prior to the Revolution. Perhaps you’ve heard of taxation without representation? Oh, wait, you like to pretend you’re a Republican so I’m sure you’re all for taxation without representation. 😉
Dibs, this winter I went to another lecture and heard a lawyer/consultant who helped write Dodd Frank. He was a complete idiot or to put it differently, he had no knowledge of how the derivatives markets actually work (speculators NECESSARY to transfer risk from commodity producers and consumers). He was so proud of himself being in the thick of things, but that was my first clue that this legislation is bad news.
Also, was very disappointed to hear Obama publically talk the other day about “cracking down” on derivatives industry in an ill-informed (and ignorant) move to DO SOMETHING. Very disappointing.
PB, many would say WWII began when Germany invaded Poland on September 1, 1939, followed by Britain and France declaring war on September 3rd. Others argue that it began with Japan’s invasion of Manchuria in 1927. Still others would say that WWII really began at the outset of WWI.
Personally, I would say that WWII began in Europe with Germany’s re-occupation of the Rhineland in 1936, in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. In Asia, I am in the school that holds that WWII began with Japan’s occupation of Manchuria in 1927.
My lettuce is starting to come up quite strongly this year. Planted a few tomato plants last night.

“Then bring up another subject, BHS.”
