  1. Liberals assume that production is a given. They see wealth and figure that the only thing that’s keeping it from getting into the hands of people who don’t have much is lack of willingness to take it and redistribute it. They see bankers with big bonuses and homeless people, do some quick mental math, and figure there is some zero sum game where they can take money away from the banker and give it to the homeless person.

    Ditto with free healthcare.

Ditto with just about every entitlement program.

They are wrong. Redistribution from those who produce the most to those who produce the least destroys production. The harder you grasp other people’s weath the more it will squeeze through your fingers.

  2. I’m hardly saying that $250k is poor, but in NYC it ain’t rich either.

Conversely, it is absurd for the Government to suggest that only families of FOUR earning less than $22,350 / year are living below the poverty level. Where can a family of FOUR live on $22,350 annually???

  3. I repeat (BTDT), if you can get the subscriber’s log-in email address and password, others can log in under that email address and password (fill in the blanks on the NY Times site as requested) and get access. They don’t need access to the actual email address (i.e., don’t need to be able to read the subscriber’s email).
