  1. “Yesterday must have been Hassidic Recreation Day.”

Wendy took our son to the Prospect Park Zoo and said it was completely packed, largely with Hassidic families. They did not even try to go into any of the buildings.

I had Matzoh Ball soup for the first time this week, and I liked it

  2. bxgrl- I think MM’s article said it was a two-family, and in my photograph the doorbells are blocked by a bush, so I can’t count ’em. But I think there’s a back entrance as well, so I’m guessing at least one on each of the three floors (since front door presumably enters onto main open stair, back entrance would make dividing it up easier?)

  3. Yup, working, though I plan to leave early so I can fix my crown molding and start other weekend projects. I might do the main floor bathroom next. It’s a very small half bath, much taller than it is wide in either direction, and the walls are just painted a uniform color, which makes the walls seem too close and tall when you’re in there. I need to come up with a good way to break it up visually. Maybe a strip of decorative tile around the middle and then different paint colors above and below the strip? We’ll see.

  4. Yesterday must have been Hassidic Recreation Day. I drove my precious child to the Q train at Newkirk–she was going to meet Russian/Ukranian friends from school and they went to a teen nightclub in Sheepshead Bay (Rasputin, are you here, Kens?), and driving around the park on the east side, there were many strange groups of people–an adult with full get-up accompanying 4 boys with long-sleeved white shirts, tallit fringes trailing, holding baseball mitts and balls; many large family groups with strollers dangerously crossing the street in and out of the park. Plus of course the usual riff-raff. My landlords had the heat turned up last night (it was 76 degrees when I woke up–where was this heat in the winter???) and I had the weirdest nightmares about stealing old-people mechanized wheelchairs and ex-lovers from the distant past letting me down yet again.
