Do I get crass person of the year award for deciding whether to get into church based on how much money it’s going to cost me?

No but nobody is going to soak you…at least no church worth going to. Whatever you give, should be given freely from what you can.

  2. “I can see how Michelle Bachmann can be a polarizing figure but when it comes to Republican women, I am always a bit extra senasitive to the criticism. Mainly because of the clear double-standard that they have to face as women to begin with and with regards to the “feminist” establishment which basically means “NO Republican women”.”

That is basically a croc. Like Democratic women haven’t had to face a double standard either? Get real. And do you want to know why “feminists” don’t seem to include Republican women? How about because they are for the most part anti-choice, anti-gay and anti- womens rights except when it is to their advantage. Feminists are women who stood up for themselves and women in general. They fought for equal rights and equal pay, the right to make decisions regarding their own bodies. If a republican woman is against those things, why would feminists want to join with them?

  3. WOW…where I grew up they passed a basket and you put in whatever you wanted to.

This tithe stuff and paying a % of income is ridiculous. You’ve heard about selling indulgences right???

    CGar,
I hear what you are saying.

I always wondered about this, Legion because you do seem very protective. I think that it would be helpful to make some distinctions though about some of the women that have come to the fore in the Republican party. Democratic women have not been immune from criticism (Hillary Clinton? Nancy Pelosi?) but also these political women (Democratic and Republican) are in the thick of things and it is also not fair to pull the delicate woman card to exempt a particular woman from political criticism. They are big girls.

  5. Also, how do people deal with getting the tax deduction when they throw money in the thingie? Shouldn’t everyone write checks so they can make sure they get the deduction? And how do you avoid getting “the stare” for not throwing in money if you just sent in a honking big check?

  6. Lech, maybe Jessi was surprised with respect to you not caring about your children going to Church given your past comments that you would not contribute to their belief in the existence of a Tooth Fairy or Santa Claus.
