Sheila Bair, the Chairman of the FDIC, has come up with what must be one of the truly worst ideas we have ever seen in our lifetime and worse, she thinks it is wise. Her idea is that in order to clear the over-hang of delinquent houses that exist in the US, it might be wise for the banks holding those mortgages to “payâ€â€¦ yes, pay!!!… those who are delinquent to enticethem to leave their houses swiftly and to leave them in good shape. She has suggested $20,000 as a reasonable sum to be paid to those who are currently delinquent.
Simply put, when you allow socialism to gain a foothold in
society this is what you get.

foreclosures have the Southern California real estate market completely screwed from a seller’s perspective, and the fact that the market is so soft makes banks less willing lend money. It is a really nasty situation right now.
My guess is that the current “fair” value for the place would be around $450K if you could take away the impact of the foreclosures and short sells, but of course that is not really possible.
So many of these drivers are complete and utter douchebags. Once they fuck up I love to swear at them because, given their ethnicity, they respond like they are fighting some holy war.
lech – A friend of mine who gets driven from Greenwich to the Slope a lot has the exact opposite experience – drivers rely on GPS when she knows faster, more efficient routes they resist taking.
No CGar, Indian driver (which is unusual). The guy really pissed me off. I told him to just put in my address into the GPS, and he said no, he knew how to get there. Next thing I know he’s trying to figure out which highway is the sprain brook and which is 87 and which is the sawmill, and he’s turning circles like a dumbass, so I just told him to turn the fucking GPS on, now, it’s 1:30 in the fucking morning and I want to fucking sleep, OK?????

Just saw a headline that nationwide home prices fell for the 6th straight month, and are close to 2009 lows.
