  1. On this morning’s train ride the next bay of seats was one of the clusters of 5 seats facing each other. In Dobbs Ferry five people got on and started talking in loud, grating New York accents. They spent a full 5 minutes discussing how to pronounce “Qatar”. “No, it’s cuttah!” One of the women had big hair. They really stood out. I assumed they had gotten lost when they were trying to find the LIRR this morning.

Note to self: When taking the 8:13, do not sit towards the back of the third car from the back of the train.

All other cars on all other trains I have tested have been just fine.

  2. benson. story today on Bloomberg about how people are enraged with sate workers “double dipping” and that states are starting to go after these people.

It’s scum like Shelley that allows this to occur.

  3. “I got an ad from the NY Times offering me free access to the website for the rest of the year. I think it must be because I email a lot of articles and post them on Facebook.”

Wondering why certain porn websites aren’t offering me free online access for the rest of the year.

  4. You know, I’m starting to think that the results of the recent census marks the reckoning of policies of the deep-blue states (that are a product of the unhinged liberalism of the 60’s and 70’s).

There are so many ways to slice the numbers: New York being overtaken by Texas and (soon) Florida in population; the fact that New York State has gained less than one million people in the past 50 years, at a time when the US added 100 million people; or the lack of job growth in these states, especially for non-Wall-Streeters.

Here is an article, however, that talks about the most telling statistic – the exodus of educated blacks from the North to the South:

    http://blogs.the-american-interest.com/wrm/2011/03/27/black-and-blue-2-blacks-flee-blue-states-in-droves/

The day of reckoning IS coming for the blue states. For a while, they could postpone it while Wall St. was riding high. When money is flush, all sorts of problems can be swept under the rug. Those days are over, and now even Andrew Cuomo is telling Shelly Silver and his ilk to go shove it.

I also predict that these coming days will see the downfall of another movement that is currently unhinged: the preservationist movement. When job growth is not there, and a guy who makes $45,000 is told that his options are: a) commute to a far-flung part of the borough or b) sign up for the costly task of restoring a 1845 clapboard house, all sorts of reactions are bound to happen.

Remember: you heard it here first 🙂
