  1. Legion, it’s so totally absurd and left wing that we needn’t give it any more recognition. If denton wants to give away his millions and not leave anything to his daughter that’s his right. Saying it should be the same for everyone else is just being ridiculous.

  2. Saw a Special on Greg Giraldo yesterday who I always admired as a stand-up comic. Never knew that he was a Columbia undergrad and Harvard law school graduate. Worked for Skadden for a little under a year and hated it so decided to do stand-up comedy instead.

  3. “denton, your logic about inheritance taxes is the most idiotic thing I’ve ever heard you post.”

“dibs, you know Warren Buffet has said pretty much the same thing, right?”

warren buffet said denton’s logic is idiotic?

  4. “”social justice” mentality ”

What’s wrong with social justice? You’re the first one to point fingers at the way you think Muslims treat women, but a helping hand in this country is “socialism?” I wasn’t raised to go on welfare, but I was also raised to believe that you gave people a helping hand when they were down- if necessary, gov’t funded, because like it or not, the majority of people who live and work in this country are invested in it. And have invested in it- and its not just money. It’s time and skills and learning and working to the greater good. If that makes me a social commie leftist liberal, I’m damn proud to be one. And we’re not the ones making it an us vs you issue. You and benson and dibs and lech constantly do that with your liberal baiting and democratic bashing.

I’m done. The OT is a misery today and I don’t need it.

  5. If 90% are employed, they should be able to comfortably support the 10% which aren’t. Maybe UC tax should be changed so that employers and not employees pay it – sort of like Social Security.

  6. Warrent Buffet on inheritance tax:

“A market economy creates some lopsided payoffs to participants. The right endowment of vocal chords, anatomical structure, physical strength, or mental powers can produce enormous piles of claim checks (stocks, bonds, and other forms of capital) on future national output. Proper selection of ancestors similarly can result in lifetime supplies of such tickets upon birth. If zero real investment returns diverted a bit greater portion of the national output from such stockholders to equally worthy and hardworking citizens lacking jackpot-producing talents, it would seem unlikely to pose such an insult to an equitable world as to risk Divine Intervention”

“WASHINGTON — Billionaire Warren Buffett told the Senate Finance Committee on Wednesday that Congress should keep the estate tax rather than repeal it and help a few rich Americans like him.

“I think we need to … take a little more out of the hides of guys like me,” Buffett told the panel.

One of the world’s richest men and biggest philanthropists, Buffett has been outspoken against efforts, mostly by Republicans, to repeal or reduce the federal tax on inheritances. Democrats argue that a repeal would amount to a huge windfall for the nation’s wealthiest families.”
