the problem with chinatown is that when i enter it i wind up getting lost, and only having an hour for lunch, is problematic. it would be cool of chinatown had rickshaw drivers you can call to pick you up and then ride you around chinatown as you put fruits and veggies in your basket and then they drive you back to work. also it’s impossible for me to get any specific task in chinatown done, there’s always some shiny bauble gleaming in the corner of your eye and you get mesmerized and lose your focus and forget why the hell you came there to begin with.
“can someone tell me what happened to the Rental of the Day thread??”
good question!!
they probably just listed it in the marketplace. so now any negative threads need to be eliminated.
you guys are still here?
can someone tell me what happened to the Rental of the Day thread??
RF – just meant it can be crowded and some stuff may not be labeled (in english) clearly.
i haven’t bought anything down there in ages though! rob – whatever you do, don’t buy a durian!!
RF, i think DH meant “stressful and confusing” for people who have discartographia.. not for the normal person im sure

thanks rf. is there an art to picking out veggies and fruits at these places?

Stressful and confusing?
There’s an open-air veggie-fruit market on Mulberry just south of Canal, and other carts on the south side of Canal on either side.
There’s a supermarket on the corner of Elizabeth and Hester (1 block north of Canal, 1 block west of Bowery).
There’s a supermarket under the Manhattan Bridge on the east side of East Broadway (entrance also on Henry St.).
There are a bunch of veggie stores on Mott St. between Hester and Grand.
“i think i might start shopping in chinatown on my lunch hour instead…. stuff is way cheaper there right? ”
yeah – it really is. it’s kinda stressful and confusing though.
THIS IS WHY POOR PEOPLE STAY AWAY FROM VEGGIES!!! (well one of the reasons). there is so little bang for your buck, totally sucks.
