  1. rental of the day thread is usually my fav. thread 🙁

    some observations tho:
they always picked the high end of the rental spectrum, even for shit apartments…

i have YET to see a rental of the day that accepts programs! (i.e. section 8)

neighborhood inferiority complexes often come out in full force (which is kinda fun, but i think cause a lot of anomosity between posters?)

i like making fun of neighborhoods, sorry, it’s just my nature… and i make fun of park slope too, and there are reasons i do live in park slope and choose to pay a rent that isnt exactly in my budget but i make it work.. a lot of reasons are really dumb, but none are nefarious or anything.. everyone has their own reasons why they choose to live where they live (sorta?) not always tho, sometimes you live in neighborhoods for certain reasons cuz either you are stuck or you live in neighborhoods because there are things that make the price worth it. and for me, it’s not overpriced organic shops, it’s other things.

    *rob*

  2. Gem, I buy maybe 5 things a week at Fairway, and 3 of them are on the weekly sale. I make a shopping list from the sales at Pathmark, Key Food, Fairway, Target, maybe Waldbaum’s if I take my daughter to her science class at Kingsborough on Saturday morning. Food prices have definitely gone up though, and not just coffee.

  3. RF – have you noticed you are spending more $$ at FAirway? we are having a tough time keeping our weekly grocery run to less than $200!!! -mind you – we don’t buy too many organic things and don’t get deli meats or fancy cheeses – so it’s kinda crazy!

  4. Yes CGar, once last week. The Russian driver almost got us in an accident. Why do so many of my drivers have to be Russian when I’m totally racist against Russians?? I have otherwise taken the train, even pretty late at night.

  5. haha arkady!! she probably wouldn’t have gotten that until 3 days later.

yeah gem – lame indeed. i don’t think anything was said in that thread that was inappropriate at all. and you’re more entitled to be critical, since that’s your hood.

  6. Arkady, Rob, the vendors at Mulberry and Canal are a lot better and very close to Lafayette–a few tiny little blocks east.

I just buy stringbeans, broccoli, tomatoes, whatever veggies I would buy at Pathmark or Fairway or wherever. Much cheaper though! My daughter is not an adventurous eater but once in a while I will get some bok choy.
