benson- MM had the same problem with the water bill. They never read the meter on the outside of the house and kept claiming she didn’t have one. Of course, there it was for all to see on the outside wall. Finally she proved it ( she got a huge credit- huge because she had been overpaying for years.
I know a number of people in Ditmas Park who love it.
I also know a few people in Bay Ridge. Depending on where you work, you can transfer to the N or D express trains and get to Manhattan in a somewhat reasonable amount of time.
yeah. until someone like YOU moves there and starts demanding 30 dollar burgers!!! kidding, kidding (sorta hahahah). okay time for me to go eat dinner!
DH, it’s a lot of stops on the R train! I lived there a long time ago and was relieved to move to Park Slope, not just because it was so much closer but also it was just so provincial. But that was many years ago (I moved to the Slope in 1979 I think).
I’ve always find myself considering Bay Ridge. I’m just not psychologically ready to move that far away from Manhattan. It is really nice though and very affordable.
Unfortunately the situation with my MIL is quite bad. Her mind is going, and she turned against my wife and left our house. She is home alone, and I’m trying to arrange help for her there. I’ve arranged meals-on-wheels, and am looking into home health care for her. Aaaannnnndddddd, I’ve got my hands full with my folks too. My father has a problem tenant, and has also received HUGE, erroneous water bill from the city. He’s asked me to help out. I’m so swamped with stuff to do, it’s a wonder my head doesn’t explode.

Most people? Wow, that’s a lot of express buses! No wonder the traffic is so bad on the BQE!
Most of the people who live in Bay Ridge and work in Manhattan take one of the express bus services.

Ditmas Park is also still pretty cheap.

Benson, I’m so sorry. It must be very hard for both of you. Good luck with your dad’s water bill too!

Hope you are feeling better these days.
