Do you think if I set the alarm for 5 a.m. & posed my question then that Mr. B. would get around to posting it by 8 or 9 so Master Plvmber & others would see it?
Arkady, the Fan, churchhill, and carytown have lots of northern transplants who bid up the prices cause it looked so cheap. Jackson Ward (not as premium; proxy of stuy heights here) houses can be had for around 250k
In Brooklyn Heights on Henry, right off Clark, there is a Korean couple that own a drycleaner. (In fact there were a couple of Korean owned drycleaners around there, but they were my favorite).
I had a great relationship with the lady. Her husband is a retired pilot of Korean Airlines (total maniacs but that is another story). I used to show her where I spilled the coffee with milk and sat on gum, and had ink stains etc. Lovely. And she carefully marked them all. She would add a buttom or sew up a hanging hem without telling her about it. She is also a great seamstress. I would go to her, despite my new place in Fort Greene, UNTIL this new guy and she would ask me WHAT HAPPENED whenever I would stop by for something occassional. Anyway, I could be going back to her.
yeah, the 2 small shops I recommended above is korean owned. Think the big one is jewish owned and has all mexican employees.
Dona – I go to the guy on Hicks and Pineapple. He had my name memorized after one visit. Really nice guy.
The lawyer guy has a Mercedes!!!!! I told him I want him to dress up as Kato and chauffeur me around.
Fan, etc. is like the Village – but there’re other places a little further out that are nice.
I think they are ALL Korean owned. I’ve never seen anything other. The kids call the Korean owner in the one down the street from me “Chinaman.”
