It is not a silly expectation. You expect developer/builder is building to current building standard and code.
This would not be picked up in most home inspections. You would need an energy audit.

I’m not stuck with interior design duty slopey. I’m a control freak and want to micromanage every aspect of how the house is decorated. My wife would love it if I just let her do it.
The total municipal tax bill is maybe 1.8x the NYC income taxes we’re saving. But we were renting in the slope so it doesn’t even make sense to compare property taxes. The income tax savings are just one component and the property taxes are another – overall our cost of housing is decreasing meaningfully.
And most importantly the increased property tax bill is much, much smaller than the cost of three private school tuitions once the kids hit middle school. Actually the entire property tax bill is about what we would have to spent to send kid 2 to private K next year since people zoned for 107 aren’t getting in.
