Donatella;
There is a business calld “Active Transport” located near me (5th Ave between 1st and 2nd Street). You can direct UPS to deliver your packages to them, and they will hold it for a couple of days for a small fee (usually $1 or $2, depending on the package size). I use them alot, and they are very good.
Picking up a package from this location is a whole lot more convenient than Foster Ave.
“I suggest a Jewish vs Chinaman haggle throwdown.”
Oh, my! In 1940, mebbe. Not now. Chinese have a generational advantage — too many are still adherents of the old ways. All our best hagglers are long gone.
HA!!!!!! crazy cyclist spotting of the day just now on spring street (where there is no bike lane, there is one on price a block over) anyway, super super super heavy traffic on that street right now cuz there’s a ton of construction going on. crazy woman on a clown bike (not really a clown bike just not sure what to call it… one of those ones with smallish wheels down low to the ground but a long body? she went OFF on someone in a construction truck (not sure about what as i missed most of it, i heard her scream tho like a block away) on front of the bike there was a banner flag that says “love your lane” and on the back another flag that said something but i missed it haha. this area is i think one of the best areas in the city to see all the loonies of both sides go crazy. <3 that all the pedestrian in the area just ignore their wheeled asses, including myself
dona, I’ve been there. Ghastly and about as convenient as birth. Saw the UPS guy yesterday, he tossed the packages on our stoop that didn’t belong to anyone in bldg. I guess he assumed it was all books.
Regarding Gold selling:
Do you think you would get a better price on trying to sell your gold at the Jewish jewelers in the diamond district vs. Chinatown????”
g10, that depends on whom you thinking is the better price negotiator. Guess you’re implying the Chinaman is better hence better odds of higher price with jewish dealers.
