I read Cloudsplitter by R. Banks recently. Good read.
JB – Probably not tonight. Don’t expect to be working very late. Since the train is so comfortable and I live so close to the train station I’ll probably take the train even if I’m working late (unless it’s the wee hours of the morning).
Jackal, will you get to experience car service to Irvington for the first time tonight?
Etson: This is my problem on the few occasions I watch movies. Either that or I don’t like the ones I’m ‘supposed’ to and vice versa. Movies always want to beat you over the head dividing everyone into goodies and baddies.
I think of it as a manipulative sentimentality. OK HERE COMES THE MUSIC. Now CRY. I have to be on a very small list of people who did not like Terms of Endearment for example. An actress wife of a colleague at the time, stared at me wide-eyed. “I never met anybody who didn’t like ‘Terms’.” Well, I didn’t.
Affliction, that’s the other Russell Banks I enjoyed. He does northern New Englanders perfectly.

Wasn’t winter’s bone by Russell Banks? I thought Continental Drift was great. I read another one by him but I can’t remember what it was.

Yes. That scrambled egg crostini was super good. The bacon was great! Good to know the chef landed someplace close by. I really liked the décor at baba too.
