90% of the money I have/had I worked for, starting with babysitting at age 11, then retail shops through college and after, then office jobs. My parents left me a very small amount, and most of that is gone after these past three years.
But I always expected that I could earn more/work. It was a shock to lose my job, and at my age it wasn’t easy to find new work.
BSM -right -but they were immigrants, correct? and would you say you are doing better than your mother? would you also say that your kids(if you have any) are or will do better than you?
In general all I would say the offspring of my mother and her siblings are doing better. Some are not but, I think career choices may be the cauase. Artists don’t make money. However, most of my cousins are doctors. We also have a lawyer and an architect.
In my family, college was not a choice, it was a given.
My mother did have a college degree when she came here as did her siblings however, they all went back to college either because they wanted to enter a new field or to advance in their chosen profession.
I we have all meet the Polish/immigrant cleaning lady at our office who has a PHD. They come to American for the dream and if it means starting by cleaning up after other people that is what they do.
I saw a truly disgusting display of union ugliness this morning. There was one of those inflatable rats outside of the Doubletree on Lex, and it had a big sign on it stating that guests of the Doubletree have recently been complaining about bedbugs.
Truly disgusting, low-class behavior.
I hope the Doubletree digs up every instance of drug use, cheating, etc that each and every one of those thuggish pieces of shit have ever engaged in and publishes it.
