  1. “It got in the way of all the buggering, did it???”

Yeah, don’t know how we even found time for lessons.
It got kind of boring for the 50% of the students that were girls, though. Then we had to limp home at the end of the day.

  2. DIBS, plus that “stylist” dude was always flirting with me. I love head massages when they watch my hair at the place but he often volunteered to wash it and the flirting took the joy right out. plus the chinaman wasnt loving the big bill either. Come to think of it, it might’ve been the bill that made me change – ie as I saw dudes come out of barbershops with similar haircut and they charged $5

  3. That sounds about the speed of our school, etson. Also, they had rules for how short your skirt was. It was possible to hike up the skirt by rolling the waist band over itself a few times, so you could go in with regulation shortness and leave looking really different. We even had regulation T-strap high heels.

It had its pluses (you didn’t have to spend a lot of money for school, you didn’t compete with other girls on that basis, it freed up head room for school work) but it had its disadvantages (chance to develop more of a fashion sense, chance to express yourself, etc.)

  4. I know a lot of Chinese girls and young women who spend $$$ for Japanese straightening. I guess it takes care of that stiffness. But my daughter’s hair is a little wavy. And it’s definitely dark brown, not black (the natural color that is–they also did her roots so the hair that’s not orange is a lighter brown).
