The new deal with these utility companies like Con Ed seems to be that they do not bother giving notice now when they come to dig up the street for a week. Don’t expect postings on street lights or anything.
It must be some money saving measure.
Con Ed spray-painted my landmarked, bluestone sidewalks with neon cherry and neon yellow paint (arrows and instrx on street digging I suppose). Con Ed met the LPC, LPC meet Con Ed. Now talk among yourselves.

PS — Etson’s post reminded me. Why does NYPD celebrate its Irishness with Scottish bagpipes, kilts and the like? I’ve been to Ireland twice and saw none of that over there.
